It's 1942 and two of Hollywood's biggest divas have descended upon the luxurious Palm Beach Royale Hotel - assistants, luggage and legendary feud with one another in tow. Everything seems to be in order for their wartime performance...that is, until they are somehow assigned to the same suite. Mistaken identities, overblown egos, double entendres, and a lap dog round out this hilarious riot of a love note to the classic farces of the 30s and 40s.

This light hearted comedy by Neil Simon's daughter captures the warmth and spirit of four women seeking answers to life's biggest questions. When a woman's family and closest friend arrive on her doorstep folowing the sudden accidental death of her husband, they bring their own baggage and distinctive personalities; a controlling ex-stepmother, a naive younger sister and an eccentric best friend. When a sexy painter is hired to paint her house, each woman learns that, when all is said and done, laughter is the best medicine. Demonstration Garden - McConkey Road
Admission is free!
There will be children's activities & tours of the annual flower trials, herb, and pollinator gardens. The trials are annual beds that feature plants relatively new or recommended for our zone. They could be heat/drought resistant, deer resistant, a new cultivar or featured color etc. Many of the annuals are donated to the Master Gardeners for the demonstration beds by local nurseries. The Demonstration Gardens offer an opportunity for County residents to see a mature annual, judge how well it does in our area & decide if it is one they might want in their own garden. Residents are invited to place a colored flag, as a vote, by their favorite annual in the demonstration beds. Master gardeners tally the votes and reports the winners in early fall. Local beekeepers will be on-hand with  the Master Gardeners to answer questions. Visitors can taste an array of heirloom and hybrid tomatoes and unique varieties of garlic and basil.

Revolutionary War Encampment
(Oliver Miller Homestead - All ages)
The Eighth Pennsylvania Regiment of the Continental Line will be camped on the grounds of the Oliver Miller Homestead from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. each day. This reenactment group will depict the day to day life of the American soldier in the 18th century. Activities will include close order drills, musket firing, and outdoor cooking.

Young visitors to the Homestead will be recruited and given recruitment papers and they will be instructed in military drills.  An exhibit of antique and reproduction firearms and weaponry will be displayed in the barn.

Members of the Miller family served in the Eighth Pennsylvania, which was formed in July of 1776 of Western Pennsylvania volunteers. Originally intended to protect the frontier, they were soon called upon to join Washington’s main army in the East. They participated in the Battle of Saratoga, which was the decisive victory over the British in the North. They also wintered with General Washington at Valley Forge.

 12/8 18th Century Frontier Christmas
(Oliver Miller Homestead - All ages)
The house will be decorated as the pioneers might have with greens, berries, pine cones, and ribbons.
Traditional puddings will be cooked at the open hearth.
To mark the end of the year we will celebrate as the Scots do, with a Hogmanay.  From long times past the Scots believed that the old year must be finalized by settling debts, cleaning house, and returning borrowed items.  The old year’s woes must be frightened off by bells ringing and rifles firing.
The new year will be welcomed with gifts to those whom you visit.  In addition, the tradition of first footing, when the first guest in the new year should be a dark haired, tall male in order to ensure good luck will be observed.
