PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Department of Public Works, in cooperation with PennDOT District 11, today announced that the Levi Bird Duff Bridge between Bellevue Borough and Ross Township will be re-opened to all traffic at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 20. The bridge, which carries Center Street over the Parkway North (I-279) closed in March 2013.
The $3 million project to preserve the existing steel girder bridge included rehabilitation of the concrete piers, hydro-demolition and replacement of the deck surface with latex concrete, steel and abutment repairs, new sidewalks and guiderails, installation of protective fencing, and installation of new strip seal dams. Mosites Construction Company of Robinson Township was the contractor for the project.
