PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Health Department today reported that sixteen new food establishments opened in the County in November. There were ten restaurants, a personal chef service, a cafe, one confectionary, a health food store, one specialty food store, and a convenience store.
“The Health Department’s monthly report highlights the new restaurants that use trans-fat free cooking oils. Seven of the ten eateries that opened in November cook with these healthier oils,” said Health Director Dr. Karen Hacker.
The restaurants using trans-fat free cooking oils are Scoops ‘N More, 7012 Steubenville Pike, Kennedy; KAVSAR Middle Asian HALAL Restaurant, 16 Southern Avenue, Mt. Washington; Southern Hospitality Restaurant, 1617 South Braddock Avenue, Swissvale; Southern Hospitality Restaurant, 441 Pittsburgh Mills Circle, Frazer; Angelina’s Pizza, 109 Brookline Boulevard, Brookline; Yorktown Café, 8256 University Boulevard, Moon; and Gatto Cycle Diner, 139 East Sixth Avenue, Tarentum.
The other new restaurants include OTB At The Boathouse, 10301 Pearce Mill Road, McCandless; Meathead’s Dogs, 219 Pennsylvania Avenue, Clairton; and Gino’s Pizza, 1610 East Carson Street, Southside.
Six other food establishments also opened last month: Embody Natural Health, 10320 Perry Highway, Pine; See’s Candies, 301 South Hills Village, Space 1325-A, Bethel Park; Nicole’s Kitchen, 328 Butler Street, Shaler; Sweet Tooth, 6012 Broad Street, East Liberty; West Liberty BP, 1829 West Liberty Avenue, Brookline; and Gabriella’s – Gourmet On The Go, 301 East Carson Street, Southside.
