PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Department of Public Works today announced that it will hold a public meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, to discuss the upcoming closure of the Greensburg Pike Bridge, which connects Turtle Creek Borough and North Versailles Twp., as well as detour routes. The meeting will take place at the Turtle Creek Borough Building, located at 125 Monroeville Avenue in Turtle Creek.
The existing bridge will be closed on Tuesday, November 5, in order to finish construction of the new bridge. The detour route from Turtle Creek will direct traffic east on the Tri-Boro Expressway to Patton Street, Fifth Avenue, Route 30 and back to Greensburg Pike. Traffic from North Versailles Twp. will follow Greensburg Pike to Warren Drive, Route 30, Linden Avenue, Beech Avenue and the Tri-Boro Expressway. The new span is expected to open in November 2014.
The $17 million Greensburg Pike Bridge Replacement Project includes constructing a new four-span, 663-foot steel girder bridge just downstream of the existing bridge, moving utilities, tying existing roadways into the new bridge, and demolishing the old seven-span steel truss structure.
