Fitzgerald Submits Legislation to Council

PITTSBURGH – County Executive Rich Fitzgerald submitted three bills to County Council for consideration at its upcoming meeting:

  • Ordinance accepting a donation from the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation and Highmark for the construction of a deck hockey facility to be located in Boyce Park, with completion expected around April 2014.
  • Ordinance authorizing a lease with the Allegheny County Parks Foundation to lease approximately 920 square feet in the Boyce Park Administration Building for a three year term, expiring on September 30, 2015, with the County having the option to extend the lease for two, one-year extensions.
  • Resolution amending the Grants and Special Account Budget to (1) authorize a grant of $613,946 from the Department of Justice to the Department of Human Services for employment training for incarcerated individuals for technical and energy sector jobs to include precision machining, advanced manufacturing and the building trades; and, (2) increase a grant by $370,819 from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Aging Block Grant, the adjustments include a reduction of $425,084 of the Federal Family Caregiver Program, a reduction of the NSIP Meals of $159,781 and an increase of $955,684 in the Aging Block Grant Other for the net increase. The revised award amount is $33,771,592.
