Fitzgerald Submits Legislation to Council, Presenting Budget at Next Meeting

PITTSBURGH – County Executive Rich Fitzgerald submitted two bills to County Council for consideration at its upcoming meeting:

  • Ordinance extending the term of Ordinance 02-12-OR which authorizes the Department of Public Works to take actions on behalf of Council with respect to the issuance of highway occupancy permits, the grant of certain licenses, rights of entry and easements, and the amicable acquisition of certain real estate affecting County public work projects and other matters for calendar years 2014 and 2015 
     
  • Ordinance adopting Thorn Hill Road as a County road and to acquire its right-of-way between its intersection with Brush Creek Road/Commonwealth Drive and Perry Highway, in Marshall Township 
     
  • Resolution amending the Grants and Special Account Budget to (1) authorize a grant of $60,000 from the PA Commission on Crime and Delinquency to the Court of Common Pleas for a Court Reminder Notification System; (2) authorize a grant of $33,078 from the PA Commission on Crime and Delinquency to the Court of Common Pleas for Disproportionate Minority Contact youth/law enforcement forums; (3) authorize a grant of $50,000 from the PA Commission on Crime and Delinquency to the Court of Common Pleas for the Juvenile Justice System Enhancement Strategy; (4) authorize a grant of $100,000 from the Howard Heinz Endowment to Human Services for support of a data management fellowship to teach use of data and research principles for child welfare; and, (5) authorize a grant from the National Institute of Justice of $294,049 to the Medical Examiner for purchase of equipment and software upgrades

Additionally, the Executive will be presenting his 2014 Comprehensive Fiscal Plan and Budget Address to County Council during its October 8, 2013 meeting.
