One-time application fee of $15. Each 45-minute session is $40. Pre-registration is required by calling Joanne Murdy at 412-607-8075 or Anne Davis at 615-513-4106. Several medical forms & releases are also required.  

Horses with Hope is a faith-based, non-profit organization that provides therapeutic riding and other equine-related activities to enhance the physical, mental, social & emotional needs of children & adults. Each session is taught by a PATH International certified instructor & trained volunteers who lead the horse and use side-walkers on each side of the rider. Each rider is instructed on horsemanship, grooming, tacking & mounted riding. The skills are determined by the rider’s capabilities & the instructor, while focusing on as much independence as possible. We are committed to providing safe, quality programs for children & adults. Free. Originally started as a program for stroke & heart patients, this nature group has expanded to any interested adult. The informal group meets rain or shine every Thursday of the year. $20 Adult/ $10 Child/ $5 Pet. White Oak Animal Safe Haven, a no kill shelter, invites everyone to their fundraiser for Gabby Hrinda. Leashed pets are welcome and costumes for humans and pets are encouraged! This is a Fun Run/Walk and will not be timed, but prizes will be drawn. Kids’ Chance of PA 5/10K Fun Walk/Run 

$25 11+ yrs / $10 under 10 yrs old. Since 2008, the Kids’ Chance of PA 5/10K Fun Walk/Run Events have raised funds to provide scholarship grants for college and vocational education to children of Pennsylvania workers who have been killed or seriously injured in a work-related accident resulting in financial need. Online registration end October 2 at noon. Day of race registration begins at 12:30 p.m.

PTAG Gala Workday 

Free. Join your Pittsburgh Trails Advocacy Group (PTAG) board members and stewards of other parks for a "Gala Workday." Please help by volunteering your time to enhance the beauty of this 629 acre county park. Afterwards, enjoy an outdoor activity on the multi-use trails with your fellow volunteers. Work will focus on trail maintenance and repair. Be sure to bring gloves, wear sturdy boots, long pants and a long sleeve shirt. Eye protection is encouraged. Water and refreshments will be provided. Please bring your own water bottle to reduce waste.

2013 Pittsburgh Paws for the Cure 

$25 Adult/ $15 Youth. Join the 5th Annual Paws for the Cure® dog walk featuring a one-mile walk through the scenic Hartwood Acres. Shelley Duffy of STAR (100.7 Pittsburgh) and Ellen Gamble, Talk Show Host, News Radio 1020 KDKA personality, will serve as emcees. There will be various activities for guests of all ages, even if you don't have a dog! All proceeds benefit Komen Pittsburgh.
