PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Department of Public Works today announced the emergency closures of the Homestead-Duquesne Road in Munhall due to the instability of the slope that collapsed an existing inlet and a partial roadway shoulder between Franklin Street and Duquesne Avenue. The project to stabilize the slope along Homestead-Duquesne Road will begin with the construction of a retaining wall extension and is expected to be completed in early December 2013.
Beginning at 7:00 a.m., Thursday, September 12, a two-mile detour will be posted. At the intersection of Main Street and Farragut Street, drivers will go south on Main Street for 1.4 miles before making a left on Brierly Lane and travel one mile to Homestead-Duquesne Road. The detour will remain the same in the opposite direction from Homestead-Duquesne Road and Brierly Lane.
