PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Department of Public Works today announced that the Andy Warhol Bridge (Seventh Street Bridge) will close to all pedestrian and vehicular traffic beginning at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7 and will be closed all day Saturday and Sunday, to re-open at 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 8 for the de-installation of the Knit the Bridge project.
The de-installation of the Knit the Bridge project will begin at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 7 and will be completed by Sunday evening. The grassroots, community-led arts project has been on view since August 12. In conjunction with Fiberart International 2013, Knit the Bridge celebrates the history of Pittsburgh as a city of bridges and steel as well as the region’s thriving, contemporary arts scene.
Motorists should use caution, be prepared for changing traffic patterns and are advised to use the Ninth Street Bridge (Rachel Carson Bridge) as an alternate route.
