PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Immunization Coalition will sponsor its eighth annual immunization conference on Thursday, October 3, at the Double Tree Hotel in Monroeville.
The conference, to be held from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., is for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, office staff and community service/public health professionals. Continuing education credits are available.
Dr. Karen A. Hacker, who will become Director of the Allegheny County Health Department next month, will welcome conference participants and offer opening remarks.
JoEllen Wolicki, a Nurse Educator, with the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases at the U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will be the featured speaker.
The meeting will include a report by Steve Forest, an Epidemiology Research Associate with the Allegheny County Health Department, on the 2012-2013 influenza season and its impact on the County.
Immunization materials, resources and information will be available from various exhibiters.

The Immunization Coalition is a group of 43 health organizations and educational institutions led by the Allegheny County Health Department and committed to protecting children, adults and seniors from vaccine-preventable diseases.
