PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Health Department today reported that 23 new food establishments opened in the County in June. There were 12 restaurants, three confectionaries, two mobile vendors, two convenience stores, two grocery stores, one retailer, and one caterer.
“The Health Department’s monthly report highlights the new restaurants that use trans-fat free cooking oils,” said Acting County Health Director Dr. Ron Voorhees. “Four out of the 12 eateries that opened in June cook with these healthier oils.”
The restaurants using trans-fat free cooking oils are: The Summit, 200 Shiloh Street, Mount Washington; Taverna-19, 108 19th Street, South Side; Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery, 120 Andrew Drive, North Fayette Twp.; and Siam Thai Restaurant, 410 First Avenue, Downtown.
The other restaurants that opened in June are: Jersey Mike’s Subs, 7390 McKnight Road, Ross Twp.; Wings Over Pittsburgh, 2525 East Carson Street, South Side; Real McCoy Sandwich Shop, 1301 East Carson Street, South Side; Hello Bistro, 1922 East Carson Street, South Side; Van Ness Grille, 812 Main Street, Sharpsburg; Firehouse Subs, 320 McHolme Drive, North Fayette Twp.; Three Rivers Bar & Grill, 1741 Golden Mile Highway, Monroeville; and It’s Dogg’n It, 1936 Murray Avenue, Squirrel Hill.
Eleven other food establishments opened last month, including: Cop Out Pierogies and Charles Catering, both at 350 Butler Street, Etna; C&S Express Mart, 322 Sewickley-Oakmont Road, Ross Twp.; Ellie’s Hawaiian Shave Ice, 4609 Marina Drive, Munhall; Schwartz Living Market, 1317 East Carson Street, South Side; Fresh From the Farm Juices, 1330 Bingham Street, South Side; Le Petit Chocolat, 1928 East Carson Street, South Side; Berry Quool, 600 Lincoln Avenue, Bellevue; The Fresh Market, 1551 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon; Gas America, 4420 Browns Hill Road, Squirrel Hill; and India on Wheels II, 2503 Stonecliff Drive, Monroeville.
