Allegheny County Girls Champ Holds onto Second Place during Second Day of National Marbles Tournament in New Jersey


PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Parks Department today announced that 10-year-old Emily Cavacini of Shaler Twp., this year’s County girls marbles champion, maintained her hold on second place in the girls division at the 90th National Marbles Tournament in Wildwood, N.J. Brooke Narr, age 14 of Lawrenceville, the 2013 County girls runner-up, is currently in fourth place in the girls division at the national tournament

Allegheny County boys champ, Ben Eddings, age 14 of the South Side, moved up to eighth place in the national boys division, and 11-year-old Sam Eddings of the South Side is in 12th place in the boys division at the close of the second day. The 90th National Marbles Tournament continues daily through Thursday, June 20.

Allegheny County’s marbles program has produced a number of girls and boys national champions, including Bailey Narr and Brandon Matchett in 2011, Penelope Bauer in 2010, Amber Ricci and John Leffakis in 2008, Alexandra Bauer in 2007, Keith Moss in 2006, Jamie Miller in 2005, and Carly Miller in 2004.
