Fitzgerald Submits Legislation & Appointment to Council

PITTSBURGH – County Executive Rich Fitzgerald submitted three bills to County Council for consideration at its upcoming meeting:

  • Resolution amending the 2013 Capital Budget to provide additional funds for the “Intersection Improvement, Reconstruction, and Partnership Program” which provides funds to improve various intersections within Allegheny County. The Department of Public Works will oversee construction to improve the intersection of Monroeville Boulevard at Caruso Drive. The project is co-sponsored by the Municipality of Monroeville and the increase in the Capital Budget will be completed funded by the municipality in the amount of $580,000.  Monroeville Boulevard is a county road, while Caruso Drive is owned by Monroeville. 
  • Resolution authorizing Allegheny County’s participation in a Transit Revitalization Investment District (TRID) Plan for Phase I of the East Liberty Project.  The County is expected to benefit from the creation of the TRID and intends to use tax increments to pay certain project costs for subprojects within the District.  The development cost is approximately $345 million and the increment generated will fund approximately $13.29 million in public infrastructure.
  • Ordinance authorizing the grant of a temporary license agreement to the Pittsburgh Filmmakers/Pittsburgh Center for the Arts in conjunction with the Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh for the purpose of staging a community-based art project known as “Knit the Bridge” on the Andy Warhol Bridge.

  • John H. Thatcher, Allegheny County Conservation District (re-appointment)
