Fourth Daily Flight Begins Service Today
PITTSBURGH – Getting to one of the most important destinations in the northeast just got easier as JetBlue Airways launched its fourth daily Pittsburgh-Boston non-stop flight at Pittsburgh International Airport today.
Boston is one of southwest Pennsylvania’s largest business markets and is also a popular destination for those traveling for leisure. JetBlue has continued to build upon their base in Pittsburgh and has committed to offering additional flights.
Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald along with business leaders and the staff and Board of the Allegheny County Airport Authority made a strong case to the airline industry to provide more direct flights to and from the Pittsburgh International Airport. As part of that effort, the Authority conducted an economic impact study in 2011 of low cost carriers which demonstrated how lower fares from airlines such as JetBlue have a direct impact on increasing passenger numbers. In turn, those numbers result in a competitive route and enhance the economic activity of the Pittsburgh region through tourism, commerce and more jobs.
The average fare from Pittsburgh to Boston has dropped significantly, with some of the credit for that drop being attributed to JetBlue Airways. Pittsburgh air travelers can help keep those fares competitive by considering JetBlue for their travel the next time they go to Boston.
JetBlue’s flight schedule between Pittsburgh and Boston is as follows:
