Fitzgerald Submits Legislation, Appointments to Council

Executive to Attend Governor’s Budget Address in Harrisburg on February 5

PITTSBURGH – County Executive Rich Fitzgerald submitted two items of legislation to County Council for consideration at its upcoming meeting:

  • Resolution amending the Capital Budget to provide additional funds for a new project – Act 13 Bridge Replacements/Repairs. Act 13 of 2012 provides that dedicated funds be distributed to counties to fund the replacement or repair of locally owned, at-risk, deteriorated bridges. The resolution will allocate those funds for such purposes. Act 13 requires PennDOT to approve a submitted “plan” to repair an at-risk deteriorated bridge.
  • Resolution amending the Grants & Special Accounts Budget for six items:
    • Pittsburgh Foundation/Human Services Integration Fund Family Support Evaluation (Department of Human Services) - $300,000
    • Pittsburgh Foundation – Pathways to Promise (Department of Human Services) - $250,000
    • Pittsburgh Foundation/Human Services Integration Fund Research Grant (Department of Human Services) - $100,000
    • City of Pittsburgh Housing Authority Grant (Department of Human Services) - $300,000
    • Pathways to Promise – Annie E. Casey (Department of Human Services) - $75,100
    • Study of Children in Assisted Housing Programs (Department of Human Services) - $199,525
    • Community Based Breastfeeding Coalition (Department of Health) - $2,000

Additionally, the Executive submitted the following appointments to County Council for consideration:

  • Thomas Weaver, Agricultural Land Preservation Board
  • Janet Craig, Agricultural Land Preservation Board
  • Barbara Parees, Allegheny HealthChoices Board

Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, along with his Chief of Staff, the County Manager and Communications Director, will be in Harrisburg this coming Tuesday, February 5, to attend the Governor’s Budget Address. The Executive will be available for response to the address by phone following the conclusion of the Joint Session.
