PITTSBURGH – Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald issued the following statement this evening, following the passage of the 2013 Operating, Capital, Grants & Special Accounts Budgets, as well as the setting of the millage rate by County Council:
“I’m very pleased with the budget that Council passed this evening and am glad that we are able to move into 2013 with no tax increase and a lower millage rate and that we did so without using one-time revenues to balance our budget. The final budget has a growth of 1.96% and we are also projecting that we will be able to grow our fund balance.
The final budget is 99% of what was originally proposed and now includes additional priorities that Council had for the County in the coming year. The process, working with Council, was cooperative and I appreciate the give and take with the members and my administration as we moved towards this final budget. Their actions tonight have provided us with a solid budget that gives us a strong foundation to move forward into 2013.”
