Fitzgerald Submits Legislation to Council, Announces Holiday Celebration

PITTSBURGH – County Executive Rich Fitzgerald submitted three items of legislation to County Council for consideration at its upcoming meeting:

  • Amendment of the 2012 Grants & Special Accounts Budget to accept grant funds from the West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund in support of the 2012 Allegheny Green & Innovation Festival held in September at Hartwood Acres Park.  The amendment also establishes two separate special accounts for the 2012 disbursement of funds under Act 13 – one for the Marcellus Legacy Fund and one for the Unconventional Gas Well Fund.
  • Resolution adopting the Shannon Transit Village Tax Increment Financing Plan presented by the Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County.  The project would be the first Transit Oriented Development in the Pittsburgh Region.  Shannon Transit Village, LLC proposes to construct a mixed-use, transit-oriented development featuring apartments, a parking facility and retail space.
  • Amendment to the 2012 Capital Budget to increase the appropriation for the Countywide Reassessment System by $3 million to a total of $4 million for the year.  It was anticipated that additional funds would be required to complete the reassessment; those funds are available through bond proceeds received on October 12, 2012.

The Executive also announced that the County will host a Holiday Celebration & Christmas Carol Sing-Along on Tuesday, December 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Courthouse Grand Staircase.  Open to all county employees, their friends, family and the public, the celebration will include a sing-along, refreshments, giveaways and an appearance by the Jolly Old Elf himself.  Attendees are also encouraged to bring a stocking full of goodies to donate to the DHS Holiday Project.
