PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Health Department today reported that thirteen new food establishments opened in the County last month, including twelve restaurants and one caterer.
“The Health Department’s monthly reports identify which new restaurants use trans-fat free cooking oils, and four out of the twelve eateries opening last month cook with these healthier oils,” said Acting County Health Director Dr. Ron Voorhees.
The restaurants using trans-fat free cooking oils are Mike and Tony’s Gyros, 1155 Washington Pike, Collier; Hanni’s Place, 1230 Grove Road, Castle Shannon; El Burro Comedor, 1108 Federal Street, North Side; and Micro Diner, 221 Shiloh Street, Mt. Washington.
Eight other restaurants opened in October: Marcello’s Pizzeria, 1256-58 Evergreen Avenue, Millvale; Tomatoes II Pizzeria, 1069 Washington Pike, Collier; Fukuda, 4770 Liberty Avenue, Floor 1, Bloomfield; Park Pizza and Cream, 7600 Forbes Avenue, Regent Square; B n D’z Burgerz & Dogz, 4120 Brownsville Road, South Park; Thai Cottage, 1109 South Braddock Avenue, Edgewood; Cinco Mexican Restaurant, 1600 Painters Run Road, Upper St. Clair; and Denise’s Diner, 2322 Arlington Avenue, Arlington.
An additional food establishment opened last month – Pomegranate Catering, 5915 Beacon Street, Squirrel Hill.
