PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Department of Emergency Services Division of 9-1-1 Communications is reminding Comcast customers in the Mt. Washington, South Side and Crane Avenue-Banksville areas that system upgrades will begin in those areas on Monday, October 15. When work is done in their area, affected customers will experience an interruption of Comcast video, Internet and phone service one evening only between midnight and 6:00 a.m. Customers will receive direct mail from Comcast about the project approximately two weeks before they are affected, and they will also receive an automated phone message from Comcast 24-36 hours prior to the outage.
During an outage, affected customers will not be able to call 9-1-1 from their landlines, and they are advised to place any calls to 9-1-1 via cell phone or to contact neighbors who can place the call, if necessary. Customers who have a monitored security service (other than XFINITY Home) should contact their providers to inform them about the scheduled outage and ask how their security systems may be impacted.
Residential customers with additional questions should call Comcast at 1-800-XFINITY. Business Class customers should call 1-800-391-3000.
