Scholars in Local Government Program—Deadline Nov. 30

PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Department of Human Services is seeking applicants for the Scholars in Local Government Program, a competitive career development initiative designed to attract recent graduates of masters or doctoral level programs to work in public service. Graduates in social work, public policy, public administration, law, business, or related programs graduating within 18 months of the application deadline are eligible to apply. There are no Allegheny County residency requirements; however, outside candidates must be willing to relocate to Pittsburgh by the summer of their scholar’s year.

The successful candidate will be appointed for a one-year term in which they will complete high-profile projects and analyze difficult problems. In addition, they will be given opportunities to meet with high-level government officials, foundation executives and nonprofit and private sector leaders, as well as participate in educational and professional development opportunities.
