CDC Expert on Immunization to be Featured Speaker
PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Immunization Coalition will sponsor its seventh annual immunization conference on Thursday, October 4, at the Double Tree Hotel in Monroeville.
The conference, to be held from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., is for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, office staff and community service/public health professionals. Continuing education credits are available.
Dr. Andrew T. Kroger, Medical Officer with the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will be the featured speaker.
Other guest speakers include Heather Stafford, Acting Director of the Bureau of Communicable Diseases, Pennsylvania Department of Health, and Amy Wishner of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
In addition, Veronica Lewis, Quality Assurance Immunization Consultant for Allegheny County, will present awards to 12 local pediatric vaccine providers with outstanding childhood immunization rates.
Immunization materials, resources and information will also be available from various exhibiters.

The Immunization Coalition is a group of 43 health organizations and educational institutions led by the Allegheny County Health Department and committed to protecting children, adults and seniors from vaccine-preventable diseases.
