Retired Professor To Receive Breastfeeding Promotion Award

Headed Drug Information Service at Duquesne University

PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Health Department is recognizing John G. Lech, Pharm. D., of Forest Hills, recently retired Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the Mylan School of Pharmacy, Duquesne University, and Director of its Center for Pharmaceutical Information, for his work to promote breastfeeding.

“We commend Dr. Lech for his leadership heading the Center for Pharmaceutical Information, which promptly and effectively handles countless questions from health care professionals and the general public dealing with drug interactions and drug use during breastfeeding and pregnancy,” said Acting Health Director Dr. Ron Voorhees.

As a timely and accurate source of information regarding the effects of drug use and drug interactions on breastfeeding, the drug information service ensures that breastfeeding remains a safe option for moms.

A Certificate of Achievement from the Health Department will be presented to Dr. Lech at a Women, Infants, and Children Program general staff meeting next month, on Wednesday, September 12.
