Absentee Ballot Application Deadline Announced for August 7 Special Election

PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Elections Division today announced that residents who need an absentee ballot for the upcoming August 7 special election to fill the vacancy in the 40th State Senatorial District must apply before 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31.

Absentee ballots are available to registered voters who will be absent from their municipality on August 7 or those who cannot reach the polls due to an illness or disability.

Absentee ballot applications may be requested through the mail or in person at the Allegheny County Elections Division, 601 County Office Building, 542 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.  Eligible voters may also obtain an application by calling 412-350-4520 or by visiting World Wide Web Icon www.votespa.com.

Registered voters are encouraged to request their absentee ballot applications as soon as possible.  Applications must be completed and returned to the Elections Division no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31.  An absentee ballot will then be mailed to the applicant.

The voted absentee ballot must be returned to the Elections Division no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3.

For fastest results, visit the Elections Division and complete an application in person.  If you are properly registered, you will be handed an absentee ballot to vote on the spot, which only takes a few minutes.
