PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh snowbirds now have a new place to land nonstop! Southwest Airlines announced it will begin daily nonstop seasonal service from Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) to Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) on February 14, 2013. Flights may be booked today at www.southwest.com.
“Our region’s travelers love to fly to southern Florida in the winter,” said Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald. “This seasonal daily service from Pittsburgh to West Palm Beach will give travelers another competitive choice in making their travel plans. We are excited to see that Southwest has added a new destination from Pittsburgh and look forward to even more locations moving forward.”
“The Airport Authority is thrilled to be able to share in the announcement because this is the first time nonstop daily PIT-PBI service has been offered since 2007,” said Allegheny County Airport Authority Chairman David Minnotte, “Our customers have clamored for this flight to return. Southwest has agreed with us that the regional demand for this market is very strong.”
Southwest flight 1371 departs PIT daily at 6:55 a.m. and arrives at PBI at 9:30 a.m. Flight 1095 departs PBI at 12:30 p.m. and returns to PIT at 3:00 p.m. Saturday’s return trip arrives at 2:00 p.m.
