PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Immunization Coalition, a group of more than 40 local health organizations and educational institutions led by the Allegheny County Health Department, has been honored by the Pennsylvania Immunization Coalition with its 2012 Community Impact Award.
The group, founded in 2006 with a mission of Promoting Immunizations Across the Lifespan, was recognized for its educational services and immunization promotions provided to medical professionals and the residents of Allegheny County.
The county coalition works to promote immunizations among all age groups through initiatives that include an annual conference for medical professionals, a web site with immunization information, community and school immunization clinics and outreach events, immunization art contests for schoolchildren and promotional campaigns in various print, broadcast and online media.
The award was presented this month at the 18th annual Pennsylvania Immunization Conference held by the Pennsylvania Immunization Coalition in State College, PA.
