PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) will be part of Delta Air Lines’ biggest expansion in 40 years at New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA). Beginning Wednesday, July 11, Delta Air Lines will offer six daily flights from PIT to LGA. The six new daily flights significantly expand Delta’s service to this important business and leisure destination.
PIT hosted a news conference and celebration today at gate D78, where the flights depart. Music and refreshments were served at 11:00 a.m., and a news conference featuring Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald began at 11:30 a.m., with the flight departing at 12:10 p.m.
“The new flights will provide our businesses and residents with more choices and options when flying to New York for business and leisure,” said Fitzgerald. “New York is an important destination for the Pittsburgh region, and we are pleased to be a part of Delta’s major expansion.”
“It is great to be able to share in this announcement with Delta Air Lines,” said Allegheny County Airport Authority Chairman David Minnotte. “Increasing access to major business centers is a primary goal of the Allegheny County Airport Authority.”
Weekdays, flights depart at 6:20 a.m., 9:09 a.m., 12:10 p.m., 2:15 p.m., 6:29 p.m. and 7:31 p.m., with return flights arriving at Pittsburgh International Airport between 8:30 a.m. and 9:40 p.m. Weekend flight times vary slightly.
