PITTSBURGH – Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald will provide opening remarks at the first session of Penn State Extension’s “Marcellus & Beyond” Shale Gas Summer Series at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, at Rodef Shalom’s Levy Hall located at 4905 5th Avenue in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood.
“The Shale Gas Summer Series is designed to provide information to assist individuals and businesses in the decision making process regarding Marcellus Shale drilling,” said Fitzgerald. “Anyone who has questions regarding the opportunities and challenges presented by the Marcellus Shale industry should consider attending Penn State Extension’s series.”
Penn State Extension is offering the series on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. beginning on June 26 and continuing every other Tuesday through August 21 at Rodef Shalom’s Levy Hall. Each session will feature presentations and discussions focusing on the environment, regulation, business and employment opportunities, and infrastructure needs, as well as how the Marcellus Shale industry might affect individuals and communities. Representatives from industry, universities, regulatory and community organizations will provide information and answer questions. The topics are scheduled as follows:
- June 26 - Marcellus & Beyond: Business Voices of Experience
- July 10 - Marcellus & Beyond: Environmental Voices of Experience
- July 24 - Marcellus & Beyond: Legislative Voices of Experience
- August 7 - Marcellus & Beyond: Workforce Voices of Experience
- August 21 - Marcellus & Beyond: Infrastructure Voices of Experience
Pre-registration is required and may be completed at http://agsci.psu.edu/shale-gas-marcellus. Interested individuals may register for individual sessions at $15 each or the entire series for $60. The registration deadline for the first session is Friday, June 22.
