PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Parks Department today announced that 14-year-old Jordan Narr of Lawrenceville, the reigning Allegheny County Boys Marbles Champion, is currently in first place in the boys division at the 89th National Marbles Tournament in Wildwood, N.J. Emily Cavacini, age 9 of Shaler Twp., who captured this year’s girls title at the Allegheny County Marbles Tournament, is tied for first in the girls division at the national tournament.
Allegheny County boys runner-up Ben Eddings, age 13 of the South Side, is tied for sixth place in the national boys division, and 13-year-old Brooke Narr of Lawrenceville, the Allegheny County girls runner-up, is currently tied for fourth place in the national tournament’s girls division. The 89th National Marbles Tournament continues daily through Friday, June 22.
Allegheny County’s marbles program has produced a number of national champions. Last year, Bailey Narr won the girls national championship, and Brandon Matchett won the boys national championship. Past girls national champions also include Penelope Bauer in 2010, Amber Ricci in 2008, Alexandra Bauer in 2007, and Carly Miller in 2004. Past boys national champions include John Leffakis in 2008, Keith Moss in 2006, and Jamie Miller in 2005.
