PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Department of Public Works today announced that Coal Valley Road will close to through traffic between S.R. 885 in Pleasant Hills and S.R. 837 in Clairton beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, June 18, and continuing through Friday, July 13. The closure is necessary to replace a pipe culvert and make additional drainage repairs to Coal Valley Road approximately 1/2 mile west of S.R. 837.
Motorists will follow a posted detour during the closure. Traffic traveling north on S.R. 885 will turn right onto Miller Road approximately one mile south of the Coal Valley Road intersection, turn left onto S.R. 837, and then turn left onto Coal Valley Road. Traffic traveling south on S.R. 885 or from Coal Valley Road west of the closure will follow S.R. 885 for approximately one mile south of the Coal Valley Road intersection, turn left onto Miller Road, turn left onto S.R. 837, and then turn left onto Coal Valley Road. Traffic from Coal Valley Road east of the closure and from S.R. 837 will follow the same detour route in reverse.
