Fitzgerald Announces National Nursing Home Week Events at Kane Centers

PITTSBURGH – Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald today announced events at the four Kane Regional Centers in observance of National Nursing Home Week, which continues through Saturday, May 19. This year’s theme is “Celebrating the Journey” and recognizes residents who live life to the fullest, as well as the dedicated staff who care for them.

“Residents come to the Kane Centers at different stages in their journeys, and we strive to provide the quality care that allows them to continue their journeys at their highest level,” said Fitzgerald. “National Nursing Home Week is an opportunity to honor the residents and staff that make the Kane Centers exceptional places to live and work.”

The Kane Regional Centers are located in McKeesport, Ross Township, Scott Township, and Pittsburgh’s Glen Hazel neighborhood. Each center provides a close-to-home experience that keeps residents active physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. The centers are staffed by professional nurses, therapists and aides, as well as a team of physicians, who attend to residents on site.

Each center provides a warm, comfortable environment including: acres of landscaped grounds; beauty/barber shops; cheerful dining rooms and resident lounges; comfortable, personalized rooms; computer and video game rooms; intimate sitting areas; large activity rooms on each floor; non-sectarian chapels; on-site wellness centers ; and outdoor courtyards and gardens. This week, all four Kane Centers are hosting events designed to involve residents, families, staff and community members. A complete listing of events is below.
