Five of Fourteen New Restaurants Use Healthier Cooking Oils
The Allegheny County Health Department today reported that twenty new food establishments opened in the County last month, including 14 restaurants, one market, one bakery, a health food store, one convenience store, a confectionary and a cigar shop.
The Health Department’s monthly reports identify which new restaurants use trans-fat free cooking oils, and five out of the fourteen eateries opening last month cook with these healthier oils.
The restaurants using trans-fat free cooking oils are Walnut Grove, 660 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon; Cappy’s Pizza & Ribs, 1106 Castle Shannon Boulevard, Castle Shannon; Yum Yummz, 4006 Liberty Avenue, Bloomfield; Boardwalk Treats, Pittsburgh Mills Mall, Food Court, 590 Pittsburgh Mills Circle, Tarentum; and Hook, Fish and Chicken, 1917 McCague Street, Swissvale.
Nine other restaurants opened in April – Café Retro, 637 East Warrington Avenue, Allentown; Cip’s Sports Bar, 3024 West Liberty Avenue and KATANA Restaurant, 3229 West Liberty Avenue, both in Dormont; Cole Café Too, 384 Butler Street, Etna; Asian Café, 1724 William Flynn Highway and Rose Marie’s Pizza And Meatballs, 800 Mt. Royal Boulevard, both in Shaler; Domino’s Pizza, 5816 Library Road, Bethel Park; Great China Buffet & Grill, 5055 William Flynn Highway, Hampton; and Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza, 2740 Stroschein Road, Monroeville.
Six additional food establishments opened last month: Neighborhood Market, 160 Brownsville Road, Mt. Oliver; The Cigar Den, 5268 Butler Street and Embody Natural Health, 5400 Butler Street, both in Lawrenceville; Frogurt, 3747 William Penn Highway, Suite B, Monroeville; Auntie Anne’s/Cinnabon, Pittsburgh International Airport, Landside Terminal, Findlay; and Get It Quick, 500 Garden City Drive, Monroeville.
