PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Police will collect unwanted, unused and expired prescription drugs and other medications from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, at the North Park County Police Station located at 700 West Ridge Drive in Allison Park and the South Park County Police Station located at 1801 Buffalo Drive in South Park. The effort is part of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s fourth National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. All medications collected will be disposed of safely and properly.
During the last Take Back Day on October 29, 2011, more than 188 tons of unwanted and expired medications were collected at 5,327 sites across the nation. Since its inception, the effort has safely and properly disposed of nearly 500 tons of prescription drugs.
