PITTSBURGH – County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and County Council Member Vince Gastgeb will hold a second town hall meeting in District 5 to assist homeowners with the 2013 court-ordered reassessment process. The meeting will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18th at Mt. Lebanon High School’s Fine Arts Theatre, 155 Cochran Road in Mt. Lebanon.
The town hall meeting will include a presentation that explains the reassessment process, how to prepare for informal reviews and formal appeals, and other options for reducing assessed values, as well as a question-and-answer period. In addition, staff will be on hand to assist property owners in completing forms and answering general questions on the reassessment. Legal and real estate professionals will also be present to provide free one-on-one advice and assistance.
No registration is required, and the sessions are free and open to all. Property owners from any community are welcome to attend town hall meetings throughout the county.
Property owners wishing to verify that their appeal has been received may visit www.alleghenycounty.us, click on “Property Assessment Information,” and then select the “2013 Court-Ordered Reassessment” box. After inputting the information for their property, they should select the “Appeal Status” tab. Property owners will receive notice of their scheduled hearing approximately two weeks before the date.
A total of 44,266 formal appeals have been received to date. This number is less than previously reported once duplicate appeals were removed from the count. It does not include informal review decisions that may be appealed.
