PITTSBURGH– The MarketReady Producer Training Program was designed to provide local food producers with professional marketing education aimed at improving their sales relationships with prospective buyers. MarketReady is a national program developed by the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service. It was adapted by Penn State University Cooperative Extension and addresses market development risks and relationships that small producers must manage as they develop their supplier network with local restaurant, grocery, wholesale and food service buyers. Sessions will include presenters from these settings, and food producers will leave with a checklist of best selling practices.
Inaugural PA MarketReady workshops will be offered during spring 2012. A session, highlighting local food sales to restaurants, will be hosted by the Penn State Extension - Allegheny County office on Thursday, April 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Interested food producers may visit www.cvent.com/d/bcqkh5 to register or contact Heather Mikulas at 412-473-2540 for more information.
Registration cost is $75 per session, which includes course materials and lunch.
