The West View Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2754 held a Veterans’ Appreciation Day on February 22nd and the Kane Regional Center in Ross Township was proud to be a sponsor.  The program was designed to show gratitude towards the veterans and to offer information on veterans’ benefits, some of which may not be well known.

Approximately 40 veterans, spouses and widows attended the event which was held at the West View VFW Post. Linda Eshenbaugh, a VFW Supervisor from the Pittsburgh Regional Office, spoke about eligibility for the various veterans’ benefits and how to access them.  Attorney Hal English discussed issues regarding elder law, Medical Power of Attorney and Financial Power of Attorney and how those areas tie into the services offered through the Veterans’ Administration (VA).  In addition to running his own law firm, H.A. English and Associates, Mr. English has reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.  The audience had numerous questions and the experts were able to provide solid direction.

Other sponsors of the event included Gateway Hospice, Arden Court North Hills and Guardian Angel Home Care Services.  McDonald’s of West View provided a pancake breakfast along with juice and coffee.

“The Kane Regional Centers thank all of our veterans who have made many sacrifices to safeguard this country” said Bill LaLonde, Community Outreach Representative.  “We pay tribute to all of those heroes and in particular the ones who call Kane home.”
