PITTSBURGH – Allegheny County Council Member William Russell Robinson, Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee, is currently drafting legislation which would amend the Operating Budgets of the Controller’s Office and Treasurer’s Office for the year 2012. The legislation is planned to be introduced at the February 7, 2012 Regular Meeting of Council.
Councilman Robinson’s legislation will specifically reduce the line items regarding salary appropriations for the Controller’s Office and Treasurer’s Office by the exact amount required for the 2012 increases in compensation for the Controller and Treasurer.
This legislation is not being prepared as a result of philosophical differences with those departments regarding levels of pay deserved by the individuals working in those offices. Rather, the Councilman is formulating this legislation because he disagrees with the process which resulted in the increased salaries for the Controller and the Treasurer and with their timing in relation to the overall fiscal circumstances of the County.
