Five of Nine New Restaurants Use Healthier Cooking Oils

The Allegheny County Health Department today reported that 11 new food establishments opened in the County last month, including nine restaurants, one bakery, and a caterer.
“Our monthly reports identify which new restaurants practice trans-fat free cooking, and five out of the nine eateries opening last month cook with these healthier oils,” said County Health Director Dr. Bruce W. Dixon.
The restaurants employing trans-fat free cooking are Carhops Sub Shop, 1806 Smallman Street, Strip District; Tsuki Japanese Restaurant, 11655 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills; Casa Rasta, 2102 Broadway Avenue, Beechview; Stagioni, 2104 East Carson Street, Southside; and Cent`anni’s Italian Restaurant, 2500 West Liberty Avenue, Brookline.
Four other restaurants opened in December: Joe Daddy’s Pizza, 1006 Washington Avenue and 99 Bottles, 1001 Washington Avenue, both in Carnegie; B Gourmet, 428 Beaver Street, Sewickley; and Tappanyaki Kyoto Restaurant, 5808 Bryant Street, East Liberty.
Two additional food establishments opened last month: Etoffee Catering, 45 North Fremont Avenue, Bellevue and Sweet Tammy’s Bakery, 6595 Hamilton Avenue, Squirrel Hill.
