Fire Marshal Asks Residents to Keep Fire Hydrants Clear of Snow & Debris

PITTSBURGH — The Allegheny County Fire Marshal today requested all residents and businesses in Allegheny County and the City of Pittsburgh to keep fire hydrants clear of snow and other debris so firefighters can easily locate and access them.

“We are calling on all residents throughout the county and city to help our firefighters by clearing away snow and other debris from around fire hydrants,” said Allegheny County Fire Marshal Bob Full. “We know it’s a lot to ask, but we all need to pull together to protect our neighborhoods and communities. Please identify the nearest fire hydrant to your home or business and remove snow and other debris from around it. If the nearest hydrant is already clear, please do not pile snow around it.”
