PITTSBURGH — Allegheny County Public Works today announced that traffic in both directions on the Rankin Bridge will be shifted to the curb lanes beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Mon., Nov. 2, so that work may be done on the interior lanes in preparation for the next phase of construction. This traffic pattern will remain in effect through Sun., Nov. 8.

From Mon., Nov. 2, through Fri., Nov. 6, the section of Kenmawr Avenue in Rankin Borough directly beneath the bridge will have single lane closures during daylight hours for bridge work. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and/or police officers.

Beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Mon., Nov. 9, traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed lanes on the Waterfront-side of the bridge. Single-lane traffic will continue in each direction for the duration of construction, which is expected to last through October 2010.

Also beginning on Nov. 9, the sidewalk on the main span of the bridge will be closed for reconstruction. Port Authority will provide free shuttle service for pedestrians. Details regarding shuttle stops and hours of operation will be released next week.
