The connector between the old North Ridge trail and the new North Ridge trail has been blazed. The extension of the new North Ridge trail, from Olympia shelter past the Lodge to the old trail head, is being blazed this summer. Local American Gold Star Mothers found a sponsor and a home for the Allegheny County chapter in the Soldier's and Sailor's Memorial Hall. Mothers who have lost a son or daughter in war know that no one else knows how you feel like another mother who has lost a child. And that there's a solace in being in an organization where no one wanted to qualify to belong. Their next meeting is on Aug. 14 at 2 pm.

The North Park Central map adds 2 connector trails to North Ridge. The North Park Southern map includes the brown trail that goes around the sand hill.
