HOMEOWNER TAX RELIEF ACT REFERENDUM
SPECIAL ELECTION QUESTION

        Do you favor imposing an additional one tenth of one percent (.1%) earned income tax for the Duquesne City School District? The revenue generated from the increased tax rate will be used in combination with an allocation from the State Property Tax Relief Fund to reduced School District property taxes on qualified residential property by an estimated amount of $211 per property. The current earned income tax for the District is one half of one percent (.5%)
 
Explanation of Ballot Question
        If this question is approved by a majority of those voting, the estimated increase in revenue from the additional one-tenth of one percent (0.1%) earned income tax will be $42,511.00. The estimated increase in revenue by virtue of the additional earned income tax and the state gaming revenue will be $351,298.00. The estimated property tax reduction for each qualified residential property will be $211.00 and the earned income tax will be increased one tenth of one percent (.1%) from the current earned income tax rate of one half of one percent (.5%). The reason for the proposed tax is to reduce Duquesne School District property taxes.
