Allegheny County Amend Home Rule Charter
Special Election Question
In order to be consistent with other elected County offices, shall the Allegheny County Home Rule Charter be amended to provide that a County Council member may have the opportunity to be a candidate for any other public office without having to first resign from County Council?

Explanation of Ballot Question
This question has been placed on the ballot pursuant to an Ordinance of County Council in order that the voters may have a better selection of candidates for public offices and to provide members of County Council with the same opportunity as other elected County offices to be a candidate for other public offices. If this question is approved by a majority of those voting, the current provisions of the Allegheny County Home Rule Charter prohibiting a County Council member from being a candidate for any other public office other than that of County Council without having first resigned from County Council shall be repealed.
