Allegheny County Violence Prevention Initiative Named Finalist in International Competition
Pittsburgh, PA—(March 5, 2008) — Allegheny County One Vision One Life (OVOL) has been named a finalist in the "Young Men at Risk: Transforming the Power of a Generation" on-line competition sponsored by Ashoka’s Changemakers. The competition attracted a diverse group of organizations from across the globe that showcased their most innovative approaches for supporting a generation of young men in realizing their highest potential. Fourteen finalists were chosen from 364 innovations entered by 39 countries.
A distinguished panel of judges selected the finalists for outstanding innovation, social impact and sustainability. The public is invited to vote online for the top three innovations. Each of the winners will receive cash awards from Ashoka's Changemakers. Voting is open now, and continues through March 11, 2008
To register to vote for three innovations go to www.changemakers.net/competition/men. The three who have garnered the most votes will be announced as competition winners on March 12, 2008, and each will receive a $5,000 Changemakers cash award.
