Family Team Conferencing
Since its formation more than 15 years ago, the Allegheny Department of Human Services (DHS) has worked to develop an integrated model of human service delivery.
County Welcomes NACo Conference
Representatives from hundreds of counties from around the country descended on Pittsburgh from July 13 - 17, as Allegheny County hosted the 2012 National Association of Counties Annual Conference and Exposition. Fittingly, the Department of Human Services was well represented, with DHS staff members speaking at conference sessions, volunteering to greet visitors and helping to coordinate some conference services.
Keeping Seniors Healthy in Soaring Temperatures
In Pittsburgh, the first six months of 2012 were the warmest on record, and July has been especially sweltering. While hot weather can be fun for swimming and outdoor activities, it can also be dangerous, particularly for older adults. To protect some of Allegheny County’s most vulnerable individuals, the DHS Area Agency on Aging (AAA) offers a variety of services to ensure that local older adults have opportunities to avoid the heat and stay safe.

It’s almost time for the 2012 Allegheny County Music Festival, a family-friendly concert event that raises funds for children and youth served through the Department of Human Services and/or Juvenile Probation. This year, the Festival will be held Sunday, August 26 – the weekend before Labor Day – at Hartwood Acres Park. Opening bands start at 5 p.m. and event headliner Rusted Root performs at 7:30 p.m.
