Foster Parent Recognition Dinner
Choosing to open your heart and home to a child in temporary need of a family is a choice worth recognizing. The annual DHS Office of Children, Youth and Families Foster Parent Recognition Dinner does just that. Since 1997, the by-invitation dinner has been a way to acknowledge the generosity of men and women who engage in this critical relationship for children who are removed from their homes because of abuse, neglect or other serious issues.
The evening’s festivities include a meal, a keynote speaker, entertainment/ dancing and door prizes. The setting varies and has included venues in Oakland, the South Side of Pittsburgh, the riverboats of Pittsburgh and others.
Foster Parent recognition dinners were discontinued after 2011.
