Affordable Care Act Covers Youth Aging Out of Foster Care
DHS has begun widely publicizing a new provision in The Affordable Care Act of 2010 that allows certain youth aging out of foster care to stay covered.
Help for the Humane Society
AmeriCorps member Terri Winaught organized a DHS donation
drive to benefit the Western PA Humane Society.
Help for Low-Income Prescription Drug Users
The Pharmacy Benefit Program provides behavioral health medication to consumers with a behavioral health diagnosis, limited income, and no prescription coverage.
A Conferencing and Teaming Update
DHS continues its rollout of Conferencing and Teaming as the
standard practice model for intake of new cases in CYF and plans for its
expansion to other populations.
Calendars Are Put to Good Reuse
More than 500 DHS employees donated their 2013 wall
calendars for use by residents at the Kane Regional Centers.

Caseworker Susan Sigafoos received kudos from a consumer for
her professional assistance in an adoption process.

An individual receiving services from DHS recently wrote to
praise Erin Biller, Supervisor, and Paula Beisler, Diversion Specialist, both
with Justice Related Services for the help they offered her.
Kudos: Susan Acquaro and Pat Bowser
Susan Acquaro, Service Planning Manager in the Office of
Intellectual Disability, and Pat Bowser, Quality Management Team Supervisor in
the Office of Data Analysis, Research and Evaluation, received praise for their
work assisting the state in implementing Adult Protective Services.
