Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoptions Act of 2008

The Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoptions Act of 2008 is federal legislation that promotes both improved outcomes and permanency for children in foster care. As it relates to education, the law requires that the state Department of Education, local education and welfare agencies collaborate to promote educational stability and ensure that children in foster care are enrolled as full-time students in school. McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act is federal legislation that addresses the education of homeless children and youth and those awaiting placement in foster care. The law mandates that services to facilitate education continuity be made promptly available for this population.
