DHS hosts Comedy Night to benefit children
On August 20, state and local elected officials and candidates took the stage at the Pittsburgh Improv and offered their best comedy routine to raise money for the Allegheny County Music Festival Fund.

KEYS Service Corps honors recent graduates, seeks new members 
KEYS (Knowledge to Empower Youths to Success) Service Corps, an AmeriCorps program, recently hosted an ice-cream social to honor the 62 members who completed their 450 hours of service this summer.

DHS Children, Youth and Families celebrates keeping families together
On August 21, Allegheny County families attended a day of events, music and fun to celebrate and recognize that families are the foundation of our community and the stronghold that protects and nurtures our children.

DHS Twitterviews Rusted Root to promote Music Festival
On August 24, DHS hosted the Department’s first “Twitterview” with Rusted Root, who will perform at this year’s Allegheny County Music Festival at Hartwood on September 6 at 7:30 p.m.

H&H specialist helps organize successful resource fair
On August 11, the DHS Office of Community Services (OCS) Bureau of Hunger & Housing Services collaborated with the Homeless Provider’s Supportive Services Committee and Employment & Training Committee to host an Employment Resource Fair.

MR/DD program specialist hailed as professional, efficient, helpful and kind
DHS Director Marc Cherna recently received a handwritten note from an advocate for a consumer receiving services through the DHS Office of Mental Retardation/Developmental Disabilities (MR/DD). The advocate wanted to make sure that Mr. Cherna knew just how dedicated Verna Johnson, Program Specialist in MR/DD is.
