DHS, JPO seek opinions on new children’s services plan, budget
DHS and the Juvenile Probation Office (JPO) are preparing the drafts of the 2010-2011 Integrated Children’s Services Plan (ICSP) and the Needs Based Plan and Budget (NBPB).
DHS is using a survey tool, which can be completed online or in hard copy, to gather opinions about how well DHS and the Juvenile Probation Office are doing their jobs. As a DHS staff person, your input is especially valuable.
Please take a few minutes to complete the survey—including the demographic questions at the end—so that your opinions can be registered. To access either the online survey or the printable version, please visit www.alleghenycounty.us/dhs/icsp_nbpb.aspx and scroll to the bottom of the page.
The survey is anonymous and easy to complete. Directions to submit hard copies are included on the survey. All responses must be in by July 2, but an earlier reply would be appreciated.
Integrated Children's Services Plan
The Integrated Children’s Services Plan (ICSP) identifies goals, strategies and outcomes which counties will use to support the healthy development of children and an integrated approach to meeting their needs. The ICSP takes into account the areas of child abuse and neglect, juvenile justice, permanency, early intervention, mental retardation services and behavioral health services.
The plan also seeks meaningful coordination and cooperation with other critical services for children, such as those provided by local school districts, early childhood programs, physical health care services, food stamps, and other public benefit programs that are not directly led by County government.
Needs Based Plan & Budget
The Needs Based Plan and Budget (NBPB) gives details about how DHS and JPO plan to spend the funds they receive from the State to support the services mentioned in the ICSP section for the benefit of children, youth, young adults and their families.
Community Meetings and Public Hearing
DHS and JPO will also host four community meetings to provide an opportunity for interested people to have their thoughts heard by the DHS Director and a representative from JPO. The dates, times and locations of the meetings are listed in the highlighted box on this page.
In addition, prior to finalizing the ICSP and NBPB, a public hearing will be held on July 29 at 1:00 p.m. in the Fourth Floor Gold Room of County Courthouse, 436 Grant Street, Pittsburgh, 15219.
Community input helps to shape both the ICSP and the NBPB. Interested people can voice their opinions about how well DHS and JPO are providing services for children, youth, young adults and their families in person at one of the community meetings or the public hearing, or they can offer their opinions in writing by completing a survey at www.alleghenycounty.us/dhs/icsp_nbpb.aspx.
