How to get GIS Data

Allegheny County GIS data is available in three ways:

Data Exchange Agreements

Municipalities, Councils of Government, School Districts Authorities and Non-Profits are all eligible to enter into data exchange agreements with Allegheny County. Other agencies or entities that plan to add to the base data and will return digital GIS data of value to Allegheny County would be eligible to participate in an exchange agreement. Data is free of charge to exchange partners.

To apply for a data exchange, download the PDF Icon Data Exchange Agreement, complete all parts and send the original, signed document to:

Data Purchase Agreement

Digital GIS data is made available to entities unable or unwilling to enter into a data exchange agreement by purchase. There are 1,361 tiles available at $20.00 each – for a total of $27,220, plus 7% tax ($1,905.40) for the grand total of $29,125.40 for purchase of data for the entire County. Tiles can be purchased individually or in lesser quantities.

DCS/GIS data is the geometry of the parcels. Address, ownership, characteristics and tax information for parcels come from the Office of Property Assessments (OPA). OPA charges $50.00 for the Real Estate Data CD for the entire county and updates the file quarterly.

NOTE:  Orders for GIS and Real Estate Data must be made separately since the orders must go to different accounting systems.  Therefore, the two purchases require two transactions.
